GMapEZ version 3.0-beta2

Released Sat, 14 Dec 2013
http://gmapez.n01se.net/gmapez-3.0-beta2.js

API changes

  • No API changes from previous 3.0 beta.

Internal changes

  • This has a small tweak from the previous beta due to Internet Explorer problems. Beta1 was reported to have problems in IE10 in compatibility mode, in IE8, and in Windows webcontrol. This beta has been tested in IE10 and it works both with compatibility on and off, so I'm hopeful it will work for older versions of IE as well.

GMapEZ version 3.0-beta1

Released Tue, 19 Nov 2013
http://gmapez.n01se.net/gmapez-3.0-beta1.js

API changes

  • This is a big change, to move off Google's deprecated v2.x API on to their v3.x API. Google has removed a number of features including some previously used by GMapEZ. These are listed below.
  • Tabbed info windows are no longer supported. Info window titles and the content for multiple tabs are now appended vertically to the content of a single info window box.
  • No more shadows on markers.
  • Map controls are similar but not identical to what they used to be. All the old map control names still work for GMapEZ, but they may not look or act quite the same.

Internal changes

  • The undocumented features of blowup maps and directions forms in info windows are no longer supported.
  • The warning pop-up has been replaces with logging all warnings to the JavaScript console.

GMapEZ version 2.4

Released Wed, 14 Mar 2007
http://gmapez.n01se.net/gmapez-2.4.js

API changes

Internal changes

  • This version now works with sites that use the original GMapEZ interface and instructions (pre-version-2 stuff).
  • Merged bug fixes made to the 2.2 series with features added in 2.3.
  • Maps, when printed, now have the correct marker icons instead of always printing default icons.
  • The mouse scroll wheel zooms the map, thanks to lordalderaan
  • The GMapEZ JavaScript file may now be safely loaded multiple times. It isn't recommended, but it's one less thing that can cause a map to fail loading.

GMapEZ version 2.3

Released Tue, 10 Oct 2006
http://gmapez.n01se.net/gmapez-2.3.js

API changes

New features:

Internal changes

In order to support the new features in this version, and to allow for future improvements, the code that translates GMapEZ HTML into Google map directives was significantly reorganized. Therefore it's possible that some maps may not act the same with this version as they did with previous versions. If this happens it's a bug: please report it. I have tested all the cases I can think of, but I can't test everything. Report any problems you have and I'll try to address them promptly so that everyone can start using the new features of this version.

Special thanks to www.Orlando-Maps.info for sponsering most of the features in this release.

GMapEZ version 2.2

  • Fix progress bar and logo that are displayed during map loading.
  • Fix EXTENT (broke maps when EXTENT was listed before any markers).
  • Restrict width of info windows to fit within the width of the map.

GMapEZ version 2.1

Released Thu, 25 May 2006
http://gmapez.n01se.net/gmapez-2.1.js

API changes

No API changes in this release.

Internal changes

The main processing done by GMapEZ used to be done all at once, causing most browsers to essentially freeze up while all the maps on a page were loaded. This could last anywhere from a second to 30 seconds or more, depending on the number of markers and the speed of the computer browsing the page.

This process has now been split up into a series of timer handlers, so the browser can respond to user actions, update the display, etc. As an added bonus, a progress bar is now displayed to help users from becoming too bored or anxious while waiting for a large number of markers to load.

Also use "non-clickable" markers when possible, which Google claims will speed up loading.

Update: The progress bar and logo do not display properly in this version.

<script
  src="http://n01se.net/gmapez/gmapez-2.js"
  type="text/javascript"></script>

See the minimal example and using multiple API keys for more details.
